AT least 154 kilometers of Harare-Beitbridge Highway have been completed following the completion of the 20 kilometer stretch between Maringire and Ngundu by Exodus and Company.
The completed work so far shows government’s commitment towards the provision of world class infrastructure through the use of local resources.
In an interview Exodus and Company Chief Executive Progress Mambo said they are happy with the progress made so far and they will keep on working hard to fulfill the President’s Vision2030.
“The Maringire stretch chewed USD30 million and going forward we will be completing other sections which we were authorised by the government to work on,” he said.
A number of challenges delayed the completion of the 20km stretch owing to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic coupled with heavy rainfall.
“Our plan is to complete all the road projects which we were awarded by government through the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development,” he said.
Exodus and Company is one of the five contractors that Government assigned to undertake roadworks on the Beitbridge-Harare-Chirundu highway where USD150 million was disbursed for the project.
Zimbabwe is on a drive to spruce up road infrastructure which has been affected by the existence of illegal economic sanctions that have hindered the flow of financial support for major projects.
