Gvts urged to strategize amid flue season

The World Health Organisation (W.H.O) has challenged governments to strategise on protecting people, health care systems and economies, amid the approaching flu season in the northern hemisphere, bringing more pressure as countries are already battling Covid-19.
Speaking at a regular Covid-19 pandemic media briefing in Geneva, Switzerland, WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus said the flu season is likely to complicate matters for countries in the northern hemisphere
Many people have called for a Covid-19 vaccine to ensure the return to normalcy.
However, for Dr Bruce Aylward, Senior Advisor to the Director-General, the real question is not a function of whether or not we have a vaccine. It’s a function of whether or not we put the tools, approaches and knowledge that we have today to work, to save lives and prevent transmission. It’s as simple as that.”
Executive Director of WHO’s Health Emergencies Programme Dr Mike Ryan has urged countries to review their strategies, including control and prevention measures.
As of September 26, globally over thirty two million Covid-19 confirmed cases, including 984 031 deaths were reported to WHO.
