THE government has commended tourism players for remaining resolute and resilient in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Despite effects of Covid-19, the country has registered new tourism investments worth more than 97 million United States dollars since January this year.
The tourism industry and academia converged in Masvingo this Saturday for the World Tourism Symposium to deliberate on strategies to propel the tourism agenda.
Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Honourable Mangaliso Ndlovu encouraged more local players to take advantage of the numerous opportunities created by government in order to support investments in the tourism sector.
Great Zimbabwe University Vice Chancellor Professor Rungano Zvobgo noted that this year’s World Tourism Symposium is designed to kick-start recovery and growth of the industry.
The symposium, which ran under the theme: ‘Tourism inclusive growth leaving no one behind’ is a precursor to the World Tourism Day commemorations slated for Bindura on the 27th of this month.
