Govts empowerment programmes changing lives

WOMEN from Mashonaland East province have described empowerment programmes introduced by the Second Republic as a game-changer in their economic well-being.

The empowered women, who attended belated International Women’s Day commemorations at Dema Growth Point in Seke this Saturday, are happy that the Second Republic’s programmes have transformed their lives economically.

Now they are not only able to manufacture detergents and soaps, but are also able to value-add traditional products and package them in line with market demands.

“As a woman, I am happy that I have been equipped with skills to look after myself. My empowerment means that the whole community has been empowered as I can transfer the skills to fellow villagers,” said a beneficiary.

The government is targeting to leave no woman and no place behind when it comes to empowerment.

“We are committed to supporting women in all their programmes so that we uplift their lives,” said Senator Aplonia Munzverengwi, Mashonaland East Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution.

The women showcased various products they make after undergoing training.
