THE Government says the country’s economy can be transformed through investing in digital technology.
The minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa who was speaking at a Transmedia Strategic planning workshop in Harare this Sunday said Government remains committed towards investing in digital technology to achieve the aspirations of vision 2030.
“Additional funding in the broadcasting sector has been provided through the digital broadcasting migration project. As the second Republic we are committed to funding the project to completion. We will expedite the release of budget allocation from the treasury,” said Minister Mutsvangwa.
Transmedia will expedite the country’s digitisation programme which is approaching the halfway stage.
“We are aligning our strategic plan to NDS1 and with regards to digitisation we are forty three percent complete. Next year we will be moving with speed though we have challenges like foreign currency,” said Engineer Adonia Mushosho, Transmedia CEO.
Transmedia was allocated two hundred million Zimbabwe dollars in the 2021 national budget, with the entity indicating that a large chunk of the funds will be directed towards capacitation and operationalisation of community radio stations.
