THE electronic passports which were introduced by Government last month will be ready for use at all the country’s ports of entry from Monday next week.
The Registrar General Henry Machiri told journalists in Harare this Wednesday that the newly introduced electronic passports will be activated at all ports of entry countrywide with effect from next Monday.
“We are glad to inform all who applied for the e-passports that the borders and all points of entry will activate the passports starting Monday the 7th of February 2022 and these will be accepted at all the ports of entry,” said the Registrar General.
Machiri urged all those who applied from the 18th of last month to collect their passports at the Makombe Building in Harare.
“We also wish to advise all who applied for the passport when the process started to come and collect these passports at our offices in Harare and also details about how the process will further unravel will be announced as time progresses,” he said.
The new electronic passports, which replace the old passports in line with the International Civil Aviation Organisations standards, were introduced last month in a move aimed at bringing a seamless, hassle-free, cheap, modern national identity registration process.
