GOVERNMENT has pledged to prioritise funding youths participating in its empowerment programmes to help them realise their full potential and build a more just society.
Representing the future and brimming with energy, the young population holds the key to the nation’s prosperity.
In recognising this, the Second Republic has fostered an initiative aimed at harnessing this potential by launching the National Youth Empowerment Starter Packs programme at Dadaya Training Centre in Zvishavane this Saturday.
“We are happy as youths because this programme came at an opportune time when we were anticipating government help,” said a youth
“Personally I want to commend the government for availing this opportunity to us youths. The programme will play a key role in contributing to the dictates of the National Development Strategy One,” added a youth.
Midlands Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Owen Ncube commended the initiative, urging youths to shun drug and substance abuse.
“The programme propagates the ethos of unity and development that are crucial for the nation’s advancement. I urge all youths here present to take this opportunity and ensure they play a key role towards the growth of the country’s economy. Youths I say please stay away from drug abuse as it has no tangible results,” he said.
Minister of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training, Honourable Tino Machakaire called on youths to responsibly seize the opportunities brought by government to ensure their own economic empowerment and that the country realises the economic dividend rooted in the youths.
“We want you to contribute meaningfully to Zimbabwe’s vision 2030 of building a middle-income economy by the year 2030, and to improve livelihoods. I urge all youth to responsibly seize the opportunities brought about by government, to ensure their own economic empowerment and that the country realizes the economic dividend rooted in the youths.”
More than 2000 youths from across the country who attended the launch programme benefitted from the empowerment starter packs, which included sewing and welding machines, as well as farming and building equipment.
