Govt declares 23 Dec a public holiday, urges caution on roads

MONDAY, 23 December 2019, will be a public holiday following the celebration of National Unity Day on Sunday, according to the law governing public holidays.

In terms of Section 2(1) (ii) of the Public Holidays and Prohibition of Business Act, when a public holiday falls on a Sunday, the following working day becomes a public holiday.

Meanwhile, the government has urged Zimbabweans to be cautious and vigilant during this festive season to avoid unnecessary loss of life due to road carnage.

The Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development, Joel Biggie Matiza spoke to ZBC News this Friday ahead of the festive season that begins this weekend.
