ACCOMMODATION challenges are set to be a thing of the past at Mahusekwa District Hospital with the government constructing staff houses at one of the biggest health institutions in Mashonaland East province.
The government is constructing staff houses at Mahusekwa District Hospital under the public sector investment programme.
Marondera District Medical Officer, Dr Delight Madoro said the construction of the staff quarters is set to ease the accommodation challenges at the institution, where most workers are having to travel from Marondera and Harare daily, resulting in a high staff turnover.
“We are happy with this development as it is set to ease accommodation crisis bedevilling this institution where most of our staff members are currently travelling 100km daily to come to work from Marondera,” said Dr Madoro.
Mahusekwa hospital, which was officially opened by President Emmerson Mnangagwa in 2019 was built under a partnership between the government of Zimbabwe and the People’s Republic of China.
