WITH the school calendar set to begin on the 7th of February, government has moved in to rescue the situation at three schools that were destroyed by a storm in Beitbridge West.
“As you can see, the damage at this school is massive. As SDC we cannot do it on our own. We need help and the coming in of government will help us a lot,” Malusungane Primary SDC chairperson, Bhekani Ndlovu said.
Speaking to ZBC News after touring Malusungane and Chamnangane primary schools as well as Kwalu Secondary School to assess the extent of the damage, the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Honourable Evelyn Ndlovu emphasised the need for responsible government departments and the community to urgently come together and rescue the situation.
“We need to expedite the refurbishment of these schools, all the responsible government departments should come together to make sure that we repair them before the schools open,” she noted.
Kwalu Secondary School, which services two wards in Beitbrige West, has an enrolment of 496 learners, while Malusungane has 350 and Chamnangana 400 pupils.
