Minister of Defence and War Veterans Affairs, Honourable Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri recently revealed to joint security graduates in Harare that President Emmerson Mnangagwa is seized with improving the welfare of members of the security services, with the implementation of the Military Salary Concept now on course.

“The President of the Republic of Zimbabwe and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe defence forces is seized with improving the conditions of services of members of the security forces, particularly in areas of salaries, accommodation and health. The military salary concept has since been approved and is in the process of being implemented,” she said.

She commended Zimbabwe Defence Forces commanders for complementing government efforts by establishing the ZDF Benefit Fund.

“The fund is instrumental in assisting members and their families in the purchasing of residential stands and construction of houses. This has seen over 10 thousand residential stands being acquired and over 5 000 houses being constructed, since the inception of this fund,” she said.

Over 81 housing units are also under construction in Dzivarasekwa and 30 units in Mbizo, while plans are underway to construct another 1500 houses in the same suburbs.

In the same vein, Manyame hospital is being upgraded to be a 5-star health facility and a major referral military hospital where all ZDF members and families will be treated.
