MASHONALAND West Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Mary Mliswa this Wednesday visited survivors of the Lion’s Den – Mhangura road accident which claimed five lives last Saturday.
The survivors of the accident are recuperating at Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital.
The accident occurred on Saturday around midday, killing five people, three of them on the spot.
One of the victims narrated their ordeal, while a relative thanked government for paying their medical expenses and meeting funeral needs for the bereaved.
“We are here to assess the situation and give assistance that might arise. For the deceased, the party has helped with coffins, fuel and food,” said Honourable Mliswa.
“We would like to thank the party ZANU PF for assisting us, otherwise it was going to be an uphill task for us,” said a relative of one of the deceased, who spoke to ZBC News.
“I recall hearing the sound of a tyre burst and the vehicle veered off the road. I don’t even know what then happened after that,” said a survivor.
The accident claimed five people, while 14 others sustained injuries when their vehicle burst its left rear tyre and overturned before rolling several times.
