THE government says traditional leaders are key in driving vision 2030 and containing the COVID-19 pandemic.

Engagement between the government and traditional leaders have become an annual event, with chiefs in Shurugwi and Zvishavane interfacing with Midlands Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Senator Larry Mavhima this Friday.

The interface was a platform for traditional leaders to raise concerns and report on the COVID-19 mitigation measures they are implementing in their respective communities.

Midlands Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Senator Larry Mavhima underscored the importance of traditional leaders in the attainment of vision 2030 and promoting government programmes.

Through the National Development Strategy 1, the government is implementing several infrastructure development projects, with the participation of all stakeholders, including traditional leaders, being key in the attainment of national goals.

Meanwhile, traditional leaders have started receiving inputs for the 2021/22 summer cropping season.
