Government commissions 22 boreholes in Matobo district

THE Government has reaffirmed its commitment to prioritising access to clean water by communities as the nation moves towards attaining vision 2030.
Improved access to clean water by all citizens tops government’s priority list of milestones to be achieved before the year 2030.
Collaboration between the government and its partners has seen Matobo district in Matabeleland South having nearly 500 functional community boreholes.
This was revealed during the recent commissioning of twenty-two boreholes in Matobo district by the Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Professor Mthuli Ncube.
“Infrastructure development is what we have been focusing on as government. The provision of water both for urban and rural communities is what we have aimed to deliver, we have undertook massive infrastructure upgrade like roads across the country. This is not just lip-service but what we are delivering,” said the Finance Minister.
China Aid and Caritas Zimbabwe are some of development agencies that have partnered the government’s drive to increase water sources in Matobo district.
