CELEBRATED Ghanaian Pan-African vlogger and digital media influencer Wode Maya who met the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Senator Monica Mutsvangwa in Harare this Monday, has challenged Zimbabwean content creators to be patriotic by using social media to write positively about the country.

During his meeting with the Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Senator Monica Mutsvangwa, Maya who promotes Pan-Africanism through his social media content, underscored the need for Zimbabwean social media influencers to be the country’s ambassadors through portraying the country in good light.

Most people have lied about Zimbabwe and me being here has changed my views about the country. I think we should all be ambassadors and portray our countries in a positive light, it’s very important. I also want tell the people of Zimbabwe that if they haven’t travelled outside Zimbabwe, they should stop complaining about the country. The more you travel the more you cherish your country.

“I have been to more than 25 countries and out of the 25, Zimbabwe is the most beautiful. You guys have places like Mana pools, Nyanga, Victoria Falls and Honde valley which are very beautiful. Why are you guys not telling stories of how beautiful this country is? On the Internet I read there are no roads in Zimbabwe but when I came here I saw beautiful roads. I just want to say to Zimbabweans you have a beautiful country, please cherish it,” said Maya.

Senator Mutsvangwa gave plaudits to Maya for using social media to propagate African development.

Maya has done wonderful things for Zimbabwe. We are very excited as a ministry about what he has been posting, and it’s good that he posts positive news about Zimbabwe and Africa because when he talks positively, people are watching. His posts will make even those in the diaspora understand what Africa has to offer.

“Maya’s message to the content creators and to Zimbabweans is to write positively about the country because if we write positively about our country we will attract tourists and investors. We want to thank Wode Maya for having met 45 of our content creators and I hope they have learnt a lot from him. He has visited so many countries and he saw a beautiful Zimbabwe. He has commended us for having beautiful roads. This means we should love our country and talk positively about it,” she said.

Zimbabwean Social media influencer Shacky Timburwa had nothing but praise for the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services for affording Maya an opportunity to get the best of Zimbabwe.

We want to thank the minister for giving access to Wode Maya. He is a very good person and as Zimbabweans, where we are right now, we need someone like Maya, who can see from different specs. As Zimbabweans we do not appreciate how good our roads are, but this guy who has been to more than 25 countries has seen it ,which is good,” he noted.

The Ghanaian Pan-African vlogger who was in the country for tourism diplomacy, becomes the latest foreigner to endorse destination Zimbabwe having visited places like Mana Pools, Victoria Falls, Nyanga and Honde Valley.
