Freda Rebecca mine employee faces theft charges

A 52-YEAR old employee at Freda Rebecca mine in Bindura is facing charges of theft after allegedly swindling the mine of gold ore worth ZWL$24 000.
Shadreck Chimbuya from Chiwaridzo in Bindura who is employed as a Project Supervisor at Freda Rebecca Mine will be sentenced this Thursday after appearing in court on allegations of theft involving 40 cubic metres of gold ore.
Chimbuya pleaded not guilty before magistrate Moreblessing Makati and was remanded out of custody on ZWL$200 bail.
Prosecutor Vincent Marunya told the court that on the 22nd of November last year the accused was tasked to monitor the transportation of quarry dust from another local company to Freda Rebecca mine.
It is alleged the accused ordered the truck driver to divert four loads of 40 cubic metres to Restoration Assembly church in Chipadze, Bindura.
The offence came to light after the informant, Muchineripi Maisiri reported the matter to the police, leading to Chimbuya’s arrest while the gold ore was recovered.
