Former ZIFA Chief Executive Henrietta Rushwaya has been arrested.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the arrest of Rushwaya at the RGM International Airport this afternoon through a tweet.
According to the tweet “this was after scanners at the airport checkpoint indicated that there was something in her hand luggage.”
As a result, searches revealed that Rushwaya had 6,09kgs of gold which had not been legally and properly cleared with Customs and relevant offices for export.
Police say they are treating the arrest as a suspected smuggling case and investigations are underway.
