Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe dies

FORMER Japanese Prime Minister, Mr Shinzo Abe has died  hours after he was shot during a political campaign in the western city of Nara.

According to local news outlets, including the NHK and the Kyodo News Agency, confirmed Mr Abe’s death this morning.

Reports suggest that the 67-year-old former Prime Minister was shot in the chest and the neck while campaigning.

After the shooting incident, Mr Abe was immediately taken to the hospital, while a 41-year-old male suspect was arrested at the scene.

Abe served as Japan’s prime minister from December 2012 to September 2020, making him the country’s longest serving prime minister.
