It’s a day marked with mixed emotions for Form 1 pupils who are making their maiden entry into secondary school after their Grade 7 results were released over a week ago.

In the midst of the excitement, there is also anxiety while for others it is a stroll in the park as if they have been there before.

“I am coming from Chimanimani and starting Form One here staying with my brother, I’m excited over this chapter and expect to excel,” a Form One student told ZBC News.

Another said: “It is a dream come true and I am looking forward to make my parents proud.”

The day also saw some parents making last ditch efforts to secure Form 1 places for their children, while others were still buying school uniforms

Schools opened for the first term of the year on the 7th of this month, with the Form 1 classes being given an additional seven days after the release of grade seven results.

Meanwhile, government has revealed that dates for the beginning of Lower 6 classes will be announced after the release of Ordinary level results.
