Football players have been called upon to maintain discipline in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic which has affected all facets of life across the globe.
With the Covid-19 pandemic putting a dent on the world sporting calendar, footballers have been urged to maintain discipline if they are to survive the scourge.
Precautionary measures have already been taken at a leadership level with various international sporting organisations, including the local premiership, have been forced to either cancel or postpone events to contain the spread of the virus.
However, former Warriors, Dynamos and Kaizer Chiefs defender, Thomas Sweswe says that is not enough urging footballers to follow Covid-19 precautionary measures to survive the pandemic.
“Footballers should maintain a culture of discipline because they can contract the disease if they are found on the wrong side. Discipline is key in everything and they should not just go around recklessly,” he said.
Sweswe also applauded local football clubs for suspending their training programmes.
“I applaud what the clubs did it’s a good move because this will ensure the players are safe and free from danger as they will be self-isolating themselves,” he said.
Most topflight league football clubs have already taken heed of the call to contain the spread of the virus by suspending pre-season training activities, while FC Platinum has come up a with a unique group training programme with limited numbers.
