THE Women national Hockey team, the Flames, will be gunning for victory in their last group match at the Africa Cup of Nations when the play Namibia in Accra, Ghana this Thursday.
This comes after the ladies secured their first win at the tournament with a five-nil victory over Uganda this Tuesday.
Zimbabwe last played Namibia at the three-nation Hockey Series Open in Bulawayo in 2019 but lost to the visitors 1-nil.
The Flames turned things around in a Road to Tokyo tourney in Stellenbosch South Africa when they won 3-2 and clinched bronze ahead of Namibia.
In their last two games at the Africa Cup, Zimbabwe holds a win against Uganda and a loss to defending champions South Africa while their opponents Namibia won against Uganda and suffered a whitewash against South Africa in a 3-0 defeat.
The two teams are therefore hoping for better fortune to ensure a podium finish.
South Africa lead pool A with six points, Zimbabwe and Namibia are second and third with 3 points apiece but separated by goal difference while Uganda are rooted at the bottom without a point.
