First Lady, Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa has made a passionate plea to the nation to observe set covid-19 guidelines for the nation to win the war against the pandemic.
Health authorities are sitting on the edge as the number of covid-19 cases continues to rise as each day passes.
Attitude has become the biggest let down, with more cases being predicted if the situation continues unabated.
Against this background, the First Lady, Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa made a passionate plea to the public to ensure they observe basic guidelines to contain the virus and reduce the risk of exposure.
“We Are experiencing the second wave of the pandemic. This is the time for us to be more careful and to make sure that we are observing all the preventive measures that have been put in place like wearing face masks, washing hands and sanitising as well as social distancing as much as possible,” she pleaded.
The First Lady made the call while presenting personal protective equipment to Natpharm in Harare this Wednesday.
The consignment of twenty thousand N95 face masks, head gear, protective aprons and surgical gloves, sourced through a collaborative effort between the Angel Stuttgart Flughafen Messe Germany and other rotary clubs such as Wild Park and the Rotary Foundation in Stuttgart, is expected to provide relief to frontline workers in the health sector.
“We are all aware that the world is facing an unprecedented threat of covid-19. It’s a threat to the very existence of humanity,” said Dr Maxwell Hove, Director Curative Services in the Ministry of Health and Child Care.
The First Lady, who is also the National Health Ambassador, noted that fighting the pandemic requires collective effort.
Among some of the benefiting institutions is Sally Mugabe Central Hospital.
Since the outbreak of the pandemic last year, the First Lady through the Angel of Hope Foundation has played a pivotal role to mobilise resources to help bolster government’s efforts to manage the covid-19.
