Budding artists from the country’s ten provinces are set to showcase their artistry at the Amplifaya Festival set for the 3rd of September in Harare.

A brainchild of Earground, the first edition of the Amplifaya Festival will see 35 emerging musical voices from the country’s ten provinces showcasing their artistry in various music genres.

According to event organiser Plot Mhako, most of the talent was scouted through social media platforms.

“The festival seeks to give young budding voices a chance to be heard. We believe they are amazing and we want to give them a platform to be seen by Zimbabwe, and for the rest of the world to know that Zimbabwe has amazing talent. Over the past three years, we have been observing some emerging voices on various social media platforms like TikTok and we managed to identify a lot of talent from various genres.

“We were mainly interested in Zimbabwean sounds because we want musicians who represent Zimbabwe through music. Each participant will be paid for his/her performance because they are talented and they deserve to be treated professionally,” he said.

Mystery, Eastwood, Bernard, Betera, DJ King Her, Yenge Family, Andrea the Vocalist and Chipo Muchegwa are some of the artists identified through social media, during the three-year scouting period.

Established artists including Takura and Feli Nandi are expected grace the event.
