Zimbabwe decides

Zimbabweans are voting in the 2023 general elections today across the country, to elect the President, House of Assembly representative as well as councillors.

Queues are growing at polling stations in both urban and rural areas, where voting began as early as 7am.

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission identified 12 370 polling stations for the August 23 general elections, as announced by its Chief Elections Officer, Utoile Silaigwana.

“It is hereby notified in terms of Section 51 (3) of the Electoral Act (Chapter 2:13) that the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission has identified twelve thousand three hundred and seventy (12 370) polling stations where polling will take place on Wednesday 23 August 2023 in the harmonized election,” he said.

ZEC also announced that there was an official registered voters population of 6 619 690 for the August 23 polls.

Polling will take place from 7am until 7pm.
