Zimbabwe optimistic of challenging India in five T20s

Story by Lawrence Trusida

Zimbabwe’s new look side is optimistic of giving a good fight against India when the two teams clash in a T20 series that start this Saturday at Harare Sports Club.

The two sides with contrasting fortunes clash in five T20s seeking the same objectives.

India are fresh from winning the World Cup, while Zimbabwe failed to qualify for that global showpiece.

Be that as it may, both sides have picked young sides looking to build for the 2026 World Cup.

Chevrons’ captain, Sikander Raza said, “We are excited about the opportunity to start our rebuild against India. Yes, they are world champions, but we are going to play each ball on merit.”

“We are excited about the prospect of playing Zimbabwe, we know they are determined to do well and every time we come here, they give us a good fight and we are not expecting anything less,” said India’s captain, Shubman Gill.

The two sides have not met much in T20s but India have an upper hand, having won six times, while the Chevrons have managed just two victories.
