Story by Providence Maraneli

THE Beitbridge border modernisation has brought a wave of massive investment in real estate with the Beitbridge Rural District Council availing prime land for the expansion of the border town.

The project did not only bring with it efficiency at the busy port of entry, but has brought in opportunities for real estate with the town experiencing unprecedented investment properties.

The sight of a new stadium with modern facilities , double story buildings and massive clearance of land for development 15 km outside the border town along the Beitbridge – Masvingo highway5 spells a massive appetite for investment as locals commit to develop their motherland as enunciated by President Emmerson Mnangagwa ‘Nyika inovakwa neve vayo /Ilizwe lakhiwa ngabanikazi balo.

“Following the modernisation of the border, we saw an opportunity to expand our business. We are the masters of our destiny. As we do this we develop our country and create employment for our people,” said a property developer, Samson Madzore.

Blue Villa Estates representative, Ms Portia Madzore said, “In no time the whole area would be developed and we can’t just seat. You see there is a new stadium there, hotels are being built. We are also building a state of the art private school there so that we also serve the community. The environment is actually good for investment.”

The rural district council which has its sight on becoming a town board in the coming four years has availed land for development.

In line with the Second Republic’s vision 2030 we have set ourselves on the development pathway , we have availed land for residential , industrial and other development projects. Our intention is to become a town board in the near future and we already have investors in different categories,” noted acting CEO Beitbridge Rural District Council, Mr Peter Ncube.

Beitbridge is one of the fast growing districts after massive investment in the border modernisation and Beitbridge – Harare Highway rehabilitation project.
