THE Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has sworn in 23 magistrates in a move expected to improve the justice delivery system in the country.

The Judicial Service Commission continues to beef up magisterial staff so to enhance the justice delivery system in the country and this Friday 23 more magistrates have been sworn in to further strengthen the magisterial bench.

Briefing the media after the swearing-in ceremony, Chief Magistrate Mrs Faith Mushure highlighted that more magistrates are critical to ensure cases are heard expeditiously.

“There are now 250 magistrates countrywide and today’s 23 will be deployed across the country. 10 of them will be posted in Harare as there are more courts. We want to ensure we execute our constitutional mandate by expeditiously dealing with cases,” she said.

She had no kind words for corrupt judicial officers.

She added, “We have a zero-tolerance policy to corruption and those who are found on the wrong side will be answerable. It is our mandate to ensure we conduct ourselves with integrity as we move ahead to create a corruption free environment within our courts.”

The Judiciary has been on an intensive drive to improve the justice delivery system, and this has seen a number of projects being implemented which include the integrated electronic case management system and of course the decentralisation of courts.
