Government reiterates commitment to creating an enabling environment for businesses

Story by Jerold Sasa

Government has reiterated its commitment to creating an enabling environment for businesses to grow and contribute towards the country’s gross domestic product.

Enabling the growth of businesses by ensuring access to raw materials in a conducive business environment took centre stage when Mashonaland East Minster of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Senator Aplonia Munzverengwi toured Kefalos, a company into cheese, ice cream and yoghurt production in Seke District.

“We want our milk producers to produce enough milk so that Kefalos gets all the milk they need locally and urge our farmers to venture into dairy farming,” said Senator Munzverengwi.

The firm, which also exports its production in the region, lauded the government for its business-friendly policies which allow for the growth of enterprises.

“The business environment we have enjoyed the past five years has helped us to grow as a company resulting in us exporting some of our products,” said Kefalos’ head of marketing, Ms Pam Tairoodza.

The Second Republic is on a drive to promote business growth and investments through its ‘Open for Business’ mantra to transform the economy as enunciated in the National Development Strategy One.
