Cowdray Park Health Centre commissioned

Story by ZBC Reporters

PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa says the Cowdray Park Health Centre is a model facility that speaks to modern standards in local health care delivery.

He was speaking at the commissioning of the health facility in Bulawayo’s Cowdray Park suburb this Wednesday.

President Mnangagwa said the model facility seeks to ensure citizens have access to the best possible health services.

“This is a modern health care facility that is between a clinic and a hospital which has the best facilities and in some instances even better equipped than some of our hospitals so we are saying as a government we will build these in all communities in the country so that the health of our people is guaranteed. So we are happy as a government that we are changing lives in the health sector,” said the President.

The health centre is set to bring health care services closer to the people of Cowdray Park and surrounding areas who were travelling to Mpilo Central Hospital and the United Bulawayo Hospitals to access treatment.

The facility is part of government efforts to ensure universal health coverage.

Bulawayo residents applauded President Mnangagwa’s government for implementing developmental projects that have transformed their lives.

ZANU PF Second Secretary and Vice President, Dr Constantino Chiwenga the march towards the attainment of an upper-middle-income economy by 2030 is on.

“As the ruling party, we want to take the nation to vision 2030. We aim to leave no one and no place behind and we are working towards reducing poverty in Zimbabwe. As people you have seen what is being done and heard what is being done in different parts of the country,” said Dr Chiwenga.

“Here in Bulawayo there is a huge challenge of water problems and President Mnangagwa has ensured that the Gwayi Shangani dam is constructed we have seen what is being done at Nyamandlovu wooing forest to ensure water supply to Bulawayo.

In Bulawayo, we have also seen the construction of clinics and hospitals. You have seen how the opposition-run councils have run down the city. What are the councils doing then if there is no service delivery in the community? Have you ever seen someone coming to your home to construct your house, if the opposition has better intentions then why have they failed to develop the city in the last 23 years? For those that are still lost l say come back home and on the 23rd of August let us go and vote for ZANU-PF.”

His party counterpart, Cde Kembo Mohadi rallied the people of Bulawayo to vote for ZANU PF to guarantee the continuation of developmental strides across the country.

“The only people who have the key to having more developmental projects being implemented in Bulawayo it is you the people of Bulawayo. You have heard and seen what is being done by the second republic and l have to say to the people of Bulawayo let us go and vote wisely and vote for ZANU-PF,” said Cde Mohadi.

The ZANU PF Bulawayo provincial leadership is confident of a clean sweep for the ruling party.

“With the multitudes of people that came today, this should be a sign to the opposition that Bulawayo is still alive and victory is certain. We will defend the gains of the revolution struggle,” said ZANU PF Bulawayo Province chairperson, Cde Jabulani Sibanda.

During the star rally, a solar-powered mobile computer bus was unveiled to the Bulawayo community to capacitate youths with computer skills.
