FC Platinum aim to switch off ZPC Kariba

LOG leaders FC Platinum will need to be at their penetrative best when they take on a defensively disciplined ZPC Kariba in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Mandava Stadium this Saturday.

Sitting pretty on top of the log standings and three points ahead of second-placed Chicken Inn, FC Platinum are hoping to continue with their fine run when they square off with stubborn ZPC Kariba.

Dubbed the Battle of Teacher and Student between Norman Mapeza and his former assistant Rodwell Dhlakama, the Platinum miners will be hoping to be at their penetrative best as they face their bogey side.

Mapeza is also not reading much into his squad’s recent league form, knowing that the current ZPC Kariba side is capable of causing a major upset, especially when playing away.

“We don’t want to delve much into the past games, this is a new game with new atmosphere, dimension and approach but we are confident of a win come Saturday. We understand they are doing well they are a side not to underestimate if you look at their current form they are defensively organised,” said Norman Mapeza, FC Platinum Head coach.

In their last seven meetings, FC Platinum have two wins, with the two teams drawing four times, while ZPC Kariba won once, making the tie an interesting duel.

Meanwhile, Mapeza and his Manica diamonds counterpart Johanisi Nhumwa have been fined by the Premier Soccer League for breaching PSL rules and regulations after their comments regarding the standards of match officiating in the country.

According to a statement issued by the PSL this Thursday, Mapeza and Nhumwa were charged under Order 13 of the PSL standing Orders Offences and fines which bar players and officials from making comments in the media implying bias or questioning the integrity of match officials.

The duo was fined one thousand two hundred and fifty United States dollars (USD1 250).
