TOURISM players in Binga have welcomed the introduction of a second Fastjet daily flight on the Victoria Falls-Johannesburg route, saying it will boost tourism in the area.

Making use of the airline’s 50-seater aircraft, the flight will also fill the gap left by British Airways-Comair which has gone under liquidation.

“We are very happy with the swift move the airline took to feel this gap. We are hopeful that this will help maintain and or increase our arrivals.

“With the past two years having been a shutdown to international travel, we expect a lot of people to be raring to get out there and tick all their bucket lists and so Fastjet will be instrumental in this. We welcome this move and look forward to welcoming visitors through them,” said Mgcini Ndlovu, a tourist player.

“It is a good thing that a second daily flight has been launched. It will increase the number of tourists coming to Zimbabwe, Victoria Falls and I believe eventually to Binga as well. It’s an upcoming tourist attraction. So in the long-run we foresee a boost in business here in Binga in terms of tourists,” said Marvellous Tshuma, a tourist player.

Meanwhile, the tourism sector has welcomed the appointment of Winnie Muchanyuka as the substantive Zimbabwe Tourism Authority Chief Executive Officer, saying she is the right candidate considering her experience in aviation and tourism.
