Fans react to Warriors squad

Football fans have queried the exclusion of Strikers Prince Dube and Knox Mutizwa from the Warriors squad announced this Wednesday ahead of the World cup qualifiers against South Africa and Ethiopia early next week.

Despite uncertainty over the availability of European- based players, two keys names Prince Dube and Knox Mutizwa were surprisingly omitted despite being active for their respective clubs.

Dube is a darling of many after coming off the bench to salvage a point for the Warriors in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at home to Algeria.

On the other hand, fans were surprised that Ovidy Karuru who is currently unattached was included in the Warriors squad.

However, former Warriors and Caps United striker Alois Bunjira believes the announced squad is well-balanced.

I think the squad is good, this a well-balanced squad we can actually come with up with the first eleven that is capable of competing with African countries,he said.

ZIFA announced a 29 member squad which includes foreign-based based players, with hope that they will be released by their respective clubs.

The football mother body is still pleading with English clubs to release players for national duty, pushing for their availability by the 30th of August.

Coach Zidravko Logarusic’s men will welcome Bafana Bafana of South Africa at the National Sports stadium on the 3rd of September before travelling to Ethiopia.

Meanwhile, FIFA president Gianni Infantino has asked UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson for exemption for Premier League clubs to release players for World Cup Qualifiers in red listed countries but the clubs are still reluctant to release the players.
