Zanu PF has urged secretaries for disability in the party to actively promote better welfare of people living with disabilities through exploiting party programmes.
The Muduvuri Rehabilitation and Empowerment Foundation (MREF) has stepped in to cushion people with disabilities at a time the nation is channelling resources to combat the spread of COVID-19.
MREF in collaboration with the Zimbabwe Amalgamated Council of Churches mobilised food hampers for 300 people with disabilities in Mashonaland Central.
Officiating at a handover ceremony for the foodstuffs this Saturday, Zanu PF National Chairperson Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri called upon party secretaries for disability across the board to fully exploit party programmes designed to ensure better welfare of people with disabilities.
“…it’s a priority to ensure that we in the party have programmes for people with disabilities. Let’s complement government programmes. What the people need is training and when they have been trained you heard there is a loan facility; exploit it,” said Oppah Muchinguri – Kashiri – Zanu PF National Chairperson.
Muchinguri-Kashiri appealed to the provincial lands committee to consider people with disabilities when allocating land.
MREF Founder Jimayi Muduvuri said he was motivated to assist people with disabilities by Zanu PF leaders who helped him access medical care following his involvement in a road accident many years ago.
“…I want to thank you Cde Muchinguri and I want to thank the President Cde Mnangagwa who helped me. That is why I pledge to continue helping people disability. We have done this programme in Mashonaland East before and we will continue in all provinces,” said Jimayi Muduvuri – Muduvuri Rehabilitation and Empowerment Foundation Founder.
Earlier, Cde Muchinguri- Kashiri addressed the provincial party leaders urging them to focus on agricultural production and to educate people on the need to adhere to the lockdown guidelines.
