ESIGODINI: Gold panner murdered in cold blood

A 26-YEAR OLD gold panner has been murdered in cold blood by his colleagues at Habane Township in Esigodini following a misunderstanding over loud music.
The victim has been identified as Simbisayi Sibanda of Nkayi.
Acting provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Loveness Mangena said the deceased who was coming from Esigodini Business Centre in the company of his friend Tawanda Mpofu on the 2nd of this month was accused of making noise with his portable radio.
The suspects, who are known by their nicknames Pitori, Tawanda, Philip and two others are alleged to have approached the deceased and attacked him with empty bottles, stones and logs for being ‘a nuisance’.
The deceased’s friends who were in the vicinity rushed to intervene but it was too late as Sibanda had already passed on.
His body was taken to Esigodini District hospital. Police are appealing to anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the five suspects to report to the nearest station.
