Enforcement of lockdown measures critical: Min Mutsvangwa

By John Nhandara

Government says enforcement of lockdown measures is critical in achieving the desired results of containing the surge in the number of covid-19 cases.

The Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa, says Cabinet’s decision to intensify lockdown measures is meant to contain the pandemic.

“There is need to enforce lockdown measures by the police. There is need to intensify control measures,” she said.

Zimbabwe has done well in containing the spread of the pandemic and the public has been urged to get vaccinated.

Said Senator Mutsvangwa, “Government is balancing saving lives and the economy. We urge everyone to get vaccinated and stay safe.”

The Government is convinced that the recently announced lockdown measures must be enforced to ensure the public stick to the set guidelines as part of efforts to reduce the spread of covid-19.

Zimbabwe is targeting to achieve herd immunity by vaccinating at least 60 percent of the population.
