Economist John Robertson dies

ONE of Zimbabwe’s leading economists, John Robertson has died at the age of 85.

Robinson died this Sunday morning at his home in Harare after suffering a stroke some weeks ago.

President of the Economics Society of Zimbabwe, Mr Nigel Chanakira confirmed the sad news.

Born in 1937 in Bulawayo, Robertson trained at the technical college and later became a technician with the Air Force, specialising in radio communications.

He then went to the University of Rhodesia where he obtained an honours degree in Economics.

As an economist, Robertson was known for his analysis backed with substantial research and statistics.

He is survived by two sons.
