THE draw for the inaugural edition of the COSAFA Women’s Champions League will be conducted on the 29th of this month, with Zimbabwe’s Black Rhinos Queens in the mix.
The inaugural COSAFA Women’s Champions League will be held from the 26th of August till the 4th of September at a venue that will be announced at the competition’s draw.
Black Rhinos Queens is among seven teams that will be in the draw and hope to win the regional competition and participate in the continental CAF Women’s Champions League later this year.
The other teams include South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies, Double Action Ladies of Botswana, Manzini Wanderers LFC of Eswatini, Lesotho Defence Force, Turu Magic of Namibia and Zambia’s Green Buffaloes.
The teams will be split into two groups, one with four sides while the other pool will have three teams.
The top two teams in each group will advance to the semi-finals.
However, Black Rhinos Queens’ participation still hangs in a balance with sport currently suspended in the country, a month before the tournament kicks off.
They are however hoping for the best after beefing up their squad with the acquisition of Merjury Nyaumwe and roping in Cranborne Bullets fitness trainer, Brighton Chandisaita.
