Dr SB Moyo’s contribution towards govt saluted

THE Mberengwa community has paid tribute to President Emmerson Mnangagwa and government for recognising the late former Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Lieutenant General Retired Dr Sibusiso Moyo’s contribution to the country before and after independence.

A key face of the second republic, the late former minister of foreign affairs and international trade lieutenant general retired Dr Sibusiso Moyo commanded respect for his bravery and commitment to development in Mberengwa despite his busy schedule.

“I want to thank our listening President for recognizing my son’s contribution.I recall the last phone call that I had with him. He told me to stay indoors in light of the pandemic.”

A distinguished scholar Dr Moyo set a development road map for his district of origin but in all that he had time for his family as echoed by wife Justice Loice Matanda Moyo and son, Sibusiso junior.

“I used to attend funerals where people have lost their loved ones. I never felt the pain up until it came my way. I would want to thank government and the people of Mberengwa for standing with us during the difficulty time.”

“Our dad loved to see us happy we will forever miss him.”

Acting minister of foreign affairs and international trade Professor Amon Murwira chronicled how the late minister Moyo pursued the country’s engagement and reengagement drive.

“He was very passionate about economic diplomacy .he vigorously pushed for the normalisation of Zimbabwe’s external relations.”

Born on November 20, 1961, the late Dr Moyo was among the 410 boys who dumped their studies at Manama high school to join the liberation struggle.
He succumbed to COVID -19 related complications in January this year and was buried at the national heroes acre.
