THE leader of the opposition in parliament, Dr Thokozani Khupe has confirmed that she has been recalled from the National Assembly after being expelled from the MDC-T.
Confusion within opposition political outfits continues unabated after Dr Thokozani Khupe was recalled from Parliament by MDC-T leader Senator Douglas Mwonzora.
Briefing journalists in Harare, Dr Khupe revealed that she received official communication from Parliament on the 26th of January, adding that she has been recalled alongside her ally, Nomvula Mguni.
“To my surprise on the 26th of January 2022, I received a letter from the Speaker of Parliament through a courier, FedEx which was delivered to my house in Bulawayo together with my colleague Nomvula Mguni to the effect that we had been recalled and we were no longer Members of Parliament,” said Dr Khupe.
However, Dr Khupe accused Senator Mwonzora of hijacking party structures, adding that the 26th of March will be the day of reckoning for her nemesis.
“Mwonzora has no structures, he hijacked our structures. Watch the space on the 26th of March, Mwonzora will have a reality check,” she said.
Dr Khupe was recalled after being suspended from the MDC-T for announcing a splinter group.
The split in the MDC is not a new phenomenon as it goes back to as far as 2005 when Morgan Tsvagirai had differences with his then deputy Gibson Sibanda.
