Domestic tourists provide glimmer of hope for tourism industry

HUNDREDS of domestic tourists have visited the UNESCO World Heritage site, the Victoria Falls Rainforest this Easter holiday, bringing a glimmer of hope to the embattled hospitality sector.

Having been confined to their homes for too long due to lockdown restrictions, many locals took advantage of the Easter holidays to flock to the popular and irresistible Victoria Falls Rainforest.

With the world’s most spectacular curtain of falling water slowly surging towards its peak and considering the priority being given to the safety and health of visitors, many holiday-makers did not regret making the popular resort city their destination of choice this Easter Holiday.

“We are excited to be back in this beautiful city which is home to one of the seven natural wonders of the world. We have had good rains and the waterfall is looking spectacular. Would like to encourage fellow Zimbabweans to visit this magnificent place,” they said.

International tourists who had a chance to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site for the Easter Holiday, described Victoria Falls as a must-visit and one of the safest destinations in the world.

“Zimbabwe is a unique destination and the people here are friendly. Any adventure seekers should take time to visit this beautiful place and experience the beauty of one of God’s finest pieces of art, the majestic Victoria Falls,” they said.

Many tourism industry players are projecting a possible rebound in international travel in the second half of the year to be spurred by successful vaccination programmes and introduction of Digital Green travel certificates.
