Devolution funds driving community development

The use of devolution funds took centre stage in parliament this Tuesday with legislators giving an account of development projects taking place in their constituencies.

This Tuesday’s parliamentary session saw legislators concluding their debate on the President’s state of the nation address.
Of interest was progress on the use of devolution funds in various constituencies.

“I want to thank the President for ensuring we have devolution became a reality. I can tell you that in my constituency we have manged to ensure the completion of Mupfure clinic as a result of devolution funds,” Shamva North Legislator Oscar Gorerino said.

Chegutu West Member of Parliament Dexter Nduna said, “we are grateful for devolution funds.We have water challenges in Chegutu and we have managed to use part of our devolution funds for revitalising and reequiping the water transmission system.”

“The President has set the tone for good governance to ensure efficiency in how state entities are run. We need to enforce good governance, accountability and productivity for public entities,” added Chegutu East Legislator Webster Shamu.

Other issues that came under the spotlight include the success of the Pfumvudza/Intwasa programme and revamping of infrastructure in the country.
