Desperate nurse loses US$1k to MOHCC employees

TWO Ministry of Health and Child Care employees have appeared in court facing charges of criminal abuse of office.

Winnie Kanyedze a nurse aged 38 and 55-year-old Abigirl Maregere who is the principal executive assistant to the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Health and Child care appeared in court this Wednesday accused of extortion.

The State‘s case is that the pair convinced another nurse that they could facilitate a recommendation letter for her to work outside the country before asking her to pay US$1 000for the service.

The court heard that the complainant alerted law enforcement agents who set a trap for the co-accused to be arrested.

The pair is expected back in court this Thursday for bail ruling.

Meanwhile, three men have appeared in court facing charges of murder after they allegedly fatally assaulted another man who had misplaced a bag they gave him for safekeeping.

Kennedy Chipangura aged 32, Givemore Munyaradzi Jonga (29) and 23-year-old Mbonisi Moyo were remanded in custody and advised to apply for bail at the High Court.

It is alleged that the trio gave the now-deceased a satchel for safekeeping but ended up assaulting him when he failed to return it.

The court heard that the now deceased succumbed to injuries after the assault.
