Deceased estate’s wrangle lands Harare woman in court

A 54-year-old woman who allegedly tendered fake documents to register her late mother’s estate has appeared in court facing charges of fraud involving US$30 million.

Naume Makumbe appeared in court this Tuesday after she allegedly defrauded her siblings of their parent’s inheritance by using fake documents to register their late parents’ estate.

It is alleged that Makumbe used a fake marriage certificate to register the estate worth US$30 million.

She was remanded to the 28th of this month.

Meanwhile, Tawanda Katatyi aged 29 has appeared in court on allegations of theft involving cash and property worth US$100 thousand .

It is alleged that Matatyi stole from his employer for over a year and it was only discovered this month after a stock take.

He was remanded in custody to the 28th of this month.

Still at the courts, a Harare woman, Irene Muzaka has been fined ZWL10 thousand for establishing and operating an unregistered school.

This comes after the arrest of a number of individuals who own unregistered schools with some schools risking closure if they fail to regularise their operations as directed by the government.
