Darikwa faces uncertain future at Nottingham

Warriors defender Tendayi Darikwa’s future at English Football League Championship club Nottingham Forest remains bleak with reports suggesting his contract might not be renewed when it expires in June.

Indications are that Nottingham Forest might not offer Darikwa a new contract as the player was kept out of action for almost year after suffering an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL).

According to Sarah Clapson of the Nottingham Post newspaper, Darikwa is one of the several players who could be loaned out by the Championship side this month or move permanently.

The 29-year-old Warriors defender who injured his ACL has endured a rough ride at his club during the last 18 months and has remained on the sidelines, even failing to earn a place on the bench.

Despite recovering fully in the last few games of the campaign, Darikwa has not featured in any game this season and the lack of game time is now pushing him out of the Championship side.

Be that as it may, the England-born Warriors defender remains a vital cog of the Zimbabwe senior men’s national team.

Darikwa was part of the Warriors squad at the Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Egypt where he featured in all group matches.
