IT is an action-packed day in the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon as Group B and C will be decided this evening.
While dejected Zimbabweans will still be interested in how their beloved Warriors will fare in their last group match against Guinea, there is more to the result than the consolation that the national team is seeking.
Zimbabwe are already eliminated and can only play spoiler if they beat Guinea, who are assured of qualification to the last 16 if they avoid defeat.
The match is just academic for the Warriors as they will not overtake Malawi even if they win and Malawi lose to Senegal due to their poor head to head record.
Meanwhile, Malawi plays continental heavyweights, Senegal and have a chance of topping the group if they win.
However, a draw could favour both teams as Senegal will progress with five points while Malawi will have to wait for the last round of matches as they could qualify among the four best 3rd placed teams.
Group B matches will start at 6pm.
Group C takes centre stage at 9pm, with already qualified Morocco playing Gabon, while Ghana need nothing short of victory against minnows, Comoros if they are to qualify.
Morocco have six points, Gabon 4, Ghana 1 and the Comoros are yet to pick a point.
A draw between Morocco and Gabon will leave the winner between the Ghana and Comoros game angling for qualification through the 3rd place route.
Cameroon and Burkina Faso have already qualified for the knockout stage and Cape Verde who finished 3rd with 4 points in Group A can still qualify depending on the results of other matches in five other groups.
