OUTGOING Cuban Ambassador to Zimbabwe Her Excellency Carmelina Rodriguez, who bade farewell to President Emmerson Mnangagwa this Friday, has hailed the cordial relations existing between the two countries.
This Friday morning saw Cuba’s top envoy to Zimbabwe Her Excellency Carmelina Rodriguez, who has been in the country for five years, bidding farewell to President Emmerson Mnangagwa at State House in Harare.
Ambassador Rodriguez said her stay in Zimbabwe has been a good one and appreciated the support from government.
“I have been here serving my country and I received a lot of support from government and ZANU PF and parliament. If my mission was successful it is because of the support I received from Zimbabwe,” said Ambassador Rodriguez.
For more than 40 years, Zimbabwe and Cuba have shared strong ties in several areas which include the medical and education sectors which saw Cuba being instrumental in the training of Zimbabwean medical personnel.
“We have a history in the education and health sectors, Cuba’s medical brigade is seen in different places. There is also the Bindura University of Science Education where we have professors,” she added.
Cuba and Zimbabwe share strong relations, with the two countries under illegal sanctions imposed by the United States.
