Vice President Retired General, Dr Constantino Chiwenga says criminals will be held accountable for their actions after two fugitives who killed a Zimbabwe National Army officer in Chivhu on Saturday were shot and killed in a gunfight with security forces.
VP Chiwenga who is also the Minister of Health and Child Care said this when he visited two Zimbabwe National Army officers who were injured in the Chivhu shooting incident at Westend Hospital in Harare.
His first port of call was to the intensive care unit where Corporal Peter Zvirevo is admitted.
Corporal Zvirevo sustained neck and stomach injuries when he was shot in Chivhu on Saturday.
VP Chiwenga also visited Corporal Stanaliius Chiunye, the leader of the crew which apprehended the fugitives at Waterberry Farm off Chivhu- Gutu road
Deputy Minister of Health and Child Care, Dr John Mangwiro said the two are receiving the necessary medical attention.
Meanwhile, Defence and War Veterans Affairs Minister, Cde Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri says the apprehension of criminals involved in the Chivhu shooting incident is a warning to those who want to temper with the peace prevailing in the country that they will be dealt with decisively.
She was speaking on the sidelines of a Zanu PF Provincial Coordinating Committee meeting held in Mutare this Sunday.
“The two culprits involved in the shooting incident that resulted in the death of a soldier in Chivhu while injuring another have been shot in Gutu following a hot pursuit by the security sector. We are happy that the soldiers and police are giving assurance that they will forever protect the people.”
