Zim looks to wrestle control of T20 series against India

Story by Lawrence Trusida, Sports Editor

ZIMBABWE is looking to wrestle control of the T20 series when they battle world champions India in the third of the five match series at Harare Sports Club this Wednesday.

With the series evenly poised at one-all, the Chevrons were out on a bowling masterclass to defend a low total in the first match, the lowest actually any team had defended against India, before India rallied back in the second match aided by mistakes from the home side.

Zimbabwe are, however, seeking the same intensity from the first match when they clash for the third match of the series.

“I always say if we play the 20 over on merit we have a chance. We don’t have to play names, but each ball on merit, then we stand a good change and if we take the intensity from the first match, then we put ourselves in a good position to win any match,” said Chevrons captain, Sikander Raza.

His opposite number is hoping the Men in Blue can continue with the good form.

“We shower good recovery skills in the second match, and I am hoping that we can carry on and do better going forward,” said India captain, Shubman Gill.

The Chevrons technical department look set to drop out of form opening batsman Innocent Kaia, with Tadiwanashe Marumani and Milton Shumba waiting in the wings.

Fast bowler Richard Ngarava is not yet fully fit, but might be considered for selections if he passes a late fitness test.

Meanwhile, Belgium-born all-rounder Antum Naqvi still has to wait to represent Zimbabwe, as his naturalisation process is yet to be completed.
