The Sport and Recreation Commission (SRC)’s blanket ban on all sporting activities has not dampened the spirit among most Athletes with the majority finding ways to cope with the new normal while also keeping in shape.

The cricket stars have also  added their voice to the call for Zimbabweans not to take Covid-19 lightly for the country to win the war against the deadly pandemic.

One such athlete is enterprising cricketer, Wesley Madhevere who was in top form with the bat before domestic cricket was halted.

Not only is he adjusting to the new demands but he has a word of advice to his peers.

I have been training at home, just doing my sprints in the yard and I also urge my fellow youths to stay at home and observe the Covid regulations, they are there to protect us not to fight against us, he said.

Fellow cricketer and all rounder, Sikander Raza echoed the same sentiments saying everyone has to play a part in the fight to contain the raging pandemic.

Health is a gift that we must try and respect, always wear your mask, sanitize and observe all the Covid guidelines, your actions will protect you and the next person next to you, noted Sikander.

The domestic cricket season was set to resume at the beginning of this month and hopes are high that it will get underway next month if a favourable response comes
