Zimbabwe this Saturday the 4th of July 2020 recorded 73 new cases and another COVID-19 death.
In a statement, the Ministry of Health and Child Care said “a female aged 21 from Harare province, who tested positive today (Saturday) with no history of travel and had comorbidities,” has died.
Of the 73 new cases, 55 are returnees from South Africa, 3 from Botswana, 3 from Mozambique, 2 from the United States of America, 1 from Australia, and another one from Zambia.
Eight local cases were recorded and they are all in isolation.
The Health Ministry said two of the local cases are contacts of known confirmed cases and investigations are underway to establish the source of infection for the other six cases.
Zimbabwe also recorded a total of 5 recoveries this Saturday.
The total number of confirmed cases now stands at 698, with 181 recoveries, 509 active cases, and 8 deaths.
The Ministry has also encouraged citizens to report to health authorities any suspicious returnees who might have absconded quarantine.
